Legion of Honor

Here is the fourth and final installment of pages from Marcel Duchamp’s Le Boîte en valise, selections of which are currently on display in the small-focus exhibition Marcel Duchamp: The Book and the Box. This wonderfully odd work refuses to conform to a traditional bibliographic structure, hovering somewhere between book, objet d’art, and sculpture.

Over the next four days, we’ll be posting the book’s pages, many of which are not on view, so that you may experience the full breadth of this intriguing artwork. Be sure to catch this gem of an exhibition, which includes additional Duchamp pieces and will be on view through November 11.

Marcel Duchamp (American, born France), 1877–1968. Le Boîte en valise de ou par Marcel Duchamp ou Rrose Sélavy (The Box in the Valise of or by Marcel Duchamp or Rrose Sélavy) no.
